Kristy, Jay & Cyan | Family

The first of my two family sessions on Monday evening was with Kristy, Jay and their daughter Cyan. Kristy is really good friends with Chelsea, whose family I photographed a couple of months ago. Kristy and I have been trying to set up this shoot for about the last eight weeks, but scheduling conflicts and sickness got in the way a few times. I was amazed to hear that when Cyan was only three days old, she had open heart surgery. Cyan's first birthday was in May and I can only imagine the celebration that would have been: what a scary thing for a family to experience at such a young age. Because of that, Cyan's health is not always the best and she's been battling a little bit of a cold/flu for the last few months.
But we finally got together and made this session happen, and I'm so glad we did! Kristy had a bunch of great ideas for the shoot, and brought two adorable outfits for Cyan. I was also really loving the tiny rocking chair that snuck in for a few photos. So adorable!
This has got to be one of my absolute favourite images from the session:
Oh my gosh. Red shoes, are you kidding? So cute!

Hi! I'm new to your work and your blog, but I just had to say how wonderful you are! And to be this talented right out of high school! Good for you! I love the crisp, clean feel of your photography. It just springs off the page. I will certainly be adding your blog to my list of favorites that I check regularly.
That kid is precious!! Seriously well done!!
