birthday details

Two weeks ago I realized my birthday was coming up pretty quickly. It's on August 1st, but somehow it seems that every year the majority of my friends are away! And for the last two years I was away on my birthday as well. This year is no exception, as I leave in 9 days for Chicago, and won't be back until after my birthday. I wanted to celebrate before, but I didn't have anything planned.
Maybe it's just my love of wedding magazines, but when I hear party, I immediately think centerpieces, patterns, details, flowers, dessert! But I've learned (through failed attempts at craftiness) that it's easy to just think about something beautiful, but to actually make it come to life is entirely different!
I decided I was going to test my domestic ability: and no, I am not destined to be a cake decorator, designer, or event planner, but after a long afternoon of cupcake-baking and final touches I'm really pleased with how everything turned out. Here's to birthdays lasting for two weeks! :) After all...it's a birthday MONTH right?

Wow! Is there anything you can't do? I love the colours - gorgeous! I love the green apples - so chic! And the cupcakes were yummy - I had one.

These make me want to have a party just to take pictures too! But I still have a couple of months until my b'day month. :-(
