mother's day | 2008

My mom is INCREDIBLE! No, honestly she is. She is my bestest bestest friend in the entire world and we are pretty much joined at the hip everyday. Whenever she goes away, I miss her so much; because it's truly like not seeing my best friend for a week. We like to joke that we're Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. She's Lorelei, I'm Rory. She's wacky, I'm a little wacky but kind of serious at times. She never liked school or studied, I, on the other hand, have a "Rory-worthy" grade point average. We're pretty much polar opposites in all the trivial little personality traits we have, but we're the same in that we appreciate the value of a hug, the value of family, and the value of a good conversation.
I've been through some really difficult years for my young age, and I would not have made it through high school had it not been for her. When nobody else knew what to do, she did. And when she didn't, she prayed. Her prayers and guidance are what made me who I am today! I love today, because it's a celebration of the sacrifice that moms all over the world make daily. Amazing. I just look at her and think woah. How the HECK am I going to do that with my kids someday? Don't you just ever want to lock your door and cry for a little while, because of all the laundry, dinners, cleaning and driving around? No, she tells me... But I guess I've always been the more emotional slash weepy one!
After coming home from church, and before our way to lunch at downtown Vancouver, we took some pictures out on our back porch. Taylor and Brandon had a little lovefest before we started.
Mom and her two boys.
Ok, the hair is a little disheveled I know, but I think it's hilarious how ALIKE we look! Compare the eyes...identical. The out of control eyebrows (I have to pluck all the time...he shaves his unibrow--don't kill me for admitting that on my blog, Brandon). And the nose...oh the nose. It's the Peterson nose, compare it to my dad's up above! We joke that I got nothing from my mother except her chin. Even that is looking a lot like Brandon's in this photo.
Three generations of women, my mother who is fifty (check out the sweet party I threw her back in October), my grandmother May who turned ninety-two in January (!!), and Me! We had brunch at the Terminal City Club with my uncle and my dad.
After driving back from Vancouver, we were in around Fraser Heights (an area in the city I live) and I came across this GORGEOUS house! This is my dream home. I have this thing with navy blue houses...I just love 'em. And I love contrast. Cool colors and contrast. So great. And the touch of natural wood? So perfect!
We spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening walking around Fort Langley with Taylor. I even got my favourite summer drink from Starbucks...a Venti half-sweet light-ice passion ice tea (no lemonade!) After I publish this blog, I'm going to grab some dinner and relax for the evening with my mom and dad. Happy Mother's Day!!

Hey Jame - great post honey bunches! Thanks for a fabulous day - you, Brandon and Dad are the lights of my life. I love doing life with y'all. Every day is a joy and I am more than blessed. "More" than blessed!
Love,
Mom
Great pictures, and great story! I love the Gilmore Girls! One of my favorite shows on earth. I have all the DVD's and can literally watch them on repeat. My cat is even named Sookie :) But we spelled it Suki because my fiance is Gilmore Girls challenged and refused to spell it the right way. haha!
Anyway, glad to hear you had a great weekend and I love the picture of that house! I'm in awe of it and wish it were mine :)
