arizona, here i come

This is what I'm headed to in just over 24 hours! Oh, I am just so excited. I count down the days after Christmas to Spring Break. Sun, rest, books, dinner, relaxation. Perfect. We always come home just so refreshed and re-grouped as a family. It's wonderful. Rest is truly one of God's best ideas yet, I think. I'm a little stressed though, because I haven't started packing yet. I am one of the worst packers in the entire world. Every trip, without fail, I forget something.

Our shorter, weekend trips are the WORST! I try to be all "hey-I'm-not-high-maintenance-or-anything" and once I simply brought my Lululemon tote, with my makeup bag, cardigan and an extra T. It's only two nights after all, right? And I had the jeans, t-shirt, jacket and shoes that I was wearing. But of course I forgot my hair straightener, and had to deal with putting my hair in a bun for 48 hours. And then the next morning, I realized I had pretty much nothing to wear, as nothing co-ordinated.

On the way to Seattle once late at night, I realized I forgot to pack Pajamas. Thankfully the wonderful store known as Target did not close until 10pm, and we rushed in grabbed the cheapest pair ($12, I believe) and bought 'em. I changed in the back seat of the car and was uber-comfy for the rest of the ride, and the rest of the weekend. Just two weekends ago, in a night in Vancouver, I forgot pyjamas again. I had to sleep in just the sweater I was wearing. Oh Jamie.

I think I've figured out my problem with weekend trips. You see, when I pack I go through the whole process of "what do I need to get ready in the morning?" Well. Shampoo. Razor. Toothbrush. Deodorant. Perfume. Underwear. Bra. Shirt. Pants. Belt. Socks. Shoes. Perhaps a scarf. Earrings. Necklaces. Makeup. --> I never think about the GOING to bed part.

Oh, geez, I am so high-maintenance. I find myself very endearing actually. I mean, you have to, right? If you keep taking the label "high maintenance" as an insult, and hear it multiple times a month, it's not going to be very good for your self-esteem. So I've adopted it myself now. I am high maintenance and proud of it. :) Well, maybe not proud. But content, working through it.

I'm off to meet with a potential Bride+Groom in a few hours, and then tackle my packing, but here's proof of just HOW EXCITED I AM.

Have a lovely day, evening, night, weekend.
Enjoy your family and enjoy and cherish your rest.

ha ha ha -- I think all of us could be called "high maitenance" -- Don't worry it's not a bad thing to be taken care of and organized. *hint - I have a master list of what I take on trips now and what my "must pack" things are after forgetting my pj's just a few too many times!

Have a wonderful time in Arizona and enjoying your fabulous family...and make sure you blog when you're away!
