a wonderful weekend.

I love weekends, don't you? I had a particularly great one these past few days. For the past few weeks my mom and I have been planning to make an IKEA trip to stock up on all new christmas balls and decorations for this year. Our weekend holiday schedules are a little crazy and if we didn't get it done this weekend, it wouldn't get done! So Saturday morning after breakfast we zipped down to the nearby IKEA, spent nearly $100 on new decorations for our brand new Christmas tree.
We've had artificial trees for at least the last ten years of my life, and usually just have one in the family room. This year, my dad decided he wanted to buy another "thinner" tree for the foyer of our house. I jumped at the opportunity to have my "Martha Stewart" christmas tree. Don't get me wrong, I love our mismatched multi-colored lights in our family room tree; it's tradition, and I love hanging the ornaments we've had for nearly twenty years.
But every now and then, getting new stuff is nice, right? So with a brand new tree, a vision in mind, IKEA bags in hand, we returned home and went, as my Grandma would say, great guns ahead! The boys (Dad and Brother) were assigned the outside lights, and Mom and I worked on the inside. We managed to get both trees decorated, various garlands up in the living room, family room, and staircase banister, as well as over the dish cabinet. A VERY productive day to say the least.
Our brand new tree!
Pretty new decorations.
Our cozy fireplace and traditional family room tree. :)
On Saturday night, my church hosted an Art Auction as a fundraiser for a brand new Youth Centre we're opening up in the downtown Langley community. It was a fun evening! Anytime that anything is centered around art and music; I'm set to go. I donated two art pieces.
There was great music and cool decor, as always.
And I also donated a mini photosession for the new year.
It was a lot of fun and it raised a lot of money for the very deserving youth centre!
All in all, a very great weekend.
My latest countdown? 20 school days until Christmas Break!!
