autumn, not fall.

I'm not sure when I discovered the word Autumn, probably around age four I'm guessing, but I know that ever since then I've liked it better than Fall. I love how the word Autumn look... a pretty uncommon order of letters. It rolls off the tongue better than Fall. I hear Fall and I think splat. On your face. On the ground. Not pretty. Autumn is a much more romantic word, don'tcha think? Autumn. Autumn. Autumn. My favourite season by a longshot. The crisp air. The slow reappearance of scarfs and boots and tights and sweaters. Tea becomes my best friend once again. Coffee comes alongside for special occasions. Autumn means a new school year is starting, kids are back in school, one grade finished another one starting, Thanksgiving and family time is coming (and now already gone), Christmas is drawing near and finally, the new calendar year is coming: 2009. I'm just at such a place of excitement in my life right now. Although overwhelmed at times, I know that God is working all things out for good--more than good, for wonderful! I can't wait to just walk in everthing He has planned for me. Enjoy these photos of just some of the beauty He's created! Wow.
Why do I like dead leaves so much? So pretty.
I was taking these photos before Paul and Shawna and the kids arrived for their session last Saturday, and I saw this tree, this sun, this park. I thought, y'know what: if it didn't rain so dang much in Vancouver, I'd want to get married on a Saturday just like today, under this tree in the beautiful Autumn weather. Just a random Jamie thought that you get to hear. :)
I love the light pouring through the leaves. I'm definitely going to be printing some of these photos BIG and framing them somewhere in my room.

I love the first shot! And I am jealous of the fall colors! Here in AZ, we only get small glimpses, depending on where we go to find the colors!!

hilarious.
i want to see more photos like these from you. ok?! love them! i love the first photo!
LOVE THESE. I want them printed and hung in my room! I'm in desperate need of new pictures =) Beautiful!
amen to autumn! It must be a commonwealth thing... we call it Autumn in Australia. fall is obvious due to the leaves falling... but that doesn't show any creativity in naming the season! Lovely pics!
wow! these are absolutely beautiful, jamie! thanks for sharing! :)
wow I love the leaves too, I love how honest you are about your love of dead leaves! I have a photo with light "pouring through leaves" that I plan on making some artwork for my room. I'll let you know how that turns out!
Jamie, these are beautiful shots! You should take a trip to Ottawa in the Autumn one year, it's very short lived before all the leaves fall, but the colours are amazing, it's one of the most beautiful things you'll ever see!
autumn weddings = awesome.
We got married in Nov, and as 'favors' gave all of our guests coffee mugs w/ apple cider in it ... mmmm ...
You see, in Spanish we only have one word to say it: "otoño" and I found it hard to figure out when to use autumm or fall. Anyway, wether we say Autumn, Fall, Otoño or Outono, I simply love that season. Great pics!! :)
Wow! These are beautiful! I've been stalking your blog for a while now and I love your work! These pictures of leaves makes me want to get out there and get some shots of Autumn too=)
Gorgeous! I love your comments about how great Autumn is (also loveee that word) :o)
I get nostalgic for the smell of crayons and glue and wearing tardies to school at this time of year. And I love that Autumn lasts so long here in BC.
The second picture (looks like emeralds in the background) is awesome. So good! You're a wonder! Love Ly
Ohhh that first one is sooo dreamy! You need a Monster Canvas of that one girl!!
My first reaction was "what, Thanksgiving over??" Oh yeah, I forgot that Canada celebrates it earlier than the US does. I'm still looking forward to mine! I can back from Texas and found all the colors had changed while I was gone. Once this rain stops, I need to get out and get some autumn pictures too!
