I have to start by saying that I just LOVED these two from the moment I met them on Monday! They are so comfortable with each other and are just adorable together; which definitely makes my job easier. We laughed a lot, walked around Jericho Beach to some really cool spots, and just had a fun time in general.
Abby contacted me a couple of months ago about her wedding photography. She was having a conversation with one of her co-workers and it turned out the co-worker was the brother-in-law of Chris Jaksa (of Chris+Lynn)--Abby was looking for a wedding photographer in her budget and C+L directed her my way! Denis and Abby have been engaged for a year, and are planning a wonderful wedding here in Vancouver on the May long weekend of 2009.
Denis and Abby met four years ago, while Abby was attending UBC for business and Denis was also studying business at an Ontario university. They met at a Chocolate Party (sounds like my kind of party!) when Denis' business class traveled to BC to compete with UBC students. They have both lived in Toronto together for the last two years, but were back in Vancouver for a friend's wedding last weekend. I'm so glad we managed to meet up to create some great pictures together. Next May feels like so far away--it's rare that I photograph engagements ten months before the wedding date.
They're so goofy together!
I love this series:
Y'know, just holding hands and hanging out in front of the Vancouver Hostel.
Cuteeee!
The light in this area was so great; it was a bit of an overcast day, but there was this one spot of sun that was shining through the trees like their own personal spotlight.
I love all the textures and patterns in this shot; the fabric of her dress, the stripes on his shirt, the texture of the denim, the grain of the log and the detail of the sand. Throw a diamond ring in there and it's pretty much perfect.
We had fun with the fact that Abby is 4"11 and Denis is a foot taller than her!
We snuck into the Jericho Sailing Centre to play with some of the great colors by the lockers.
Also found this great ol' car seat:
Thanks again Abby and Denis; you are too fun!! Make sure to view the slideshow below, or click here to open it up in a new window.

Jamie... I love these! They're so cute together. With you behind the camera and that much love on the other side, the sun couldn't help but shine! I love the locker, and the two on the green porch. Great job!
Awesome job Jamie! I love the 'texture-pattern' shot on the log, and the colors that you find in walls is just mind-boggling!! I can just picture you roaming around dark alleys on your own with a big expensive camera in one hand, and a Costco-sized can of Mace in the other...just in case!
"I am Jamie, don't come near me!! I am Location Scouting and I WILL attack if necessary!!" :)
ahh. you were so close to me that day!! i live like a 2 min walk from there. and jericho park and the beach are one of my favourite locations!! sweet pics jamie ! they both look so photogenic
ok you. what do you think you are doing? who do you think you are? Jasmine? sheesh, girl, you are seriously SO SO good. I really love these. And I think me and you might have to have a fun-day sometime soon :D
