taking time to do nothing.

I just went for a long run that was very exhausting and kind of painful. My knee isn't feeling the greatest and my feet hurt, and my dog was falling behind the entire 6 kilometres: but in the grand scheme of things, I'm glad I CAN run. After the run I went into our backyard and just strettttched out on the grass and laid there for ten minutes, almost napping. I could hear the birds chirping, and the wind was blowing the grass.
Perfect.
Doing nothing for even TEN MINUTES can be so rejuvenating. It's important to rest, step back and enjoy life sometimes...
This is just a reminder that was spurred from a recent event. Yesterday morning, we got the news that a boy in my brother's grade at school passed away in his sleep Saturday night. It was definitely a shock, and it's weird when something hits a school community. Life is SO precious. The boy was a Christian and is resting in Heaven full of peace right now, but we're praying for the family, friends and the school.
My parents just came home from Calgary last night, and it's really nice to have them back in the house! The home is so lonely with just myself and my brother. Most of the time I just drive my brother somewhere, and then pick him up a few hours later anyway. I value family like crazy, my family are my best friends. I also pray for my future family and husband all the time. Above all my other ambitions and dreams, both in photography, business and life, my desire for a family comes above them all. My mom is truly my best friend, and I can remember many times that I've cried (happily? or just in a weird emotional fit?) while talking about how much I already love my future family. Thinking about that now, I'm not sure why I would cry, but if you started a conversation with me about it now, I probably would get emotional!
(I took this of Taylor before I left for my shoot yesterday.)
Anyway, just a reminder to love! Love your family, your friends, your job, your God, your community, your moments, your memories.
Perfect.

Excellent post, Jamie! I needed to hear this and coming from someone who I KNOW is busier than I am is very challenging.
Thanks for reminding me!

amen sista!
Hi Jamie! I definitely understand you in this post. My family is everything to me. I have a twin sister who is my best friend and I have another sister who isn't quite 2 years older and she's definitely one of my best friend as well...and would never want to imagine life without either of them.
I think its great that you think of your future family in that way and can't wait for you to have it :)
Nice pictures by the way! God bless :)
Aw, Jamie! Great post, very thought provoking. It brought tears to my eyes.
Hi! I've been a stalker of your blog for a little while now (hope this isn't creepy to you!)... after getting your name from Jessica R. Strickland's comment spot on her blog. (I live in the same town as her) I love your photography! You are so very talented. I enjoy taking pictures too, but am definitely on the beginner side, the complete opposite of the spectrum than you! Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and let you know that your post really encouraged me! I love my family SOOO much too, they are everything to me. It's fun to think that someday we might have ones of our own! (I think about it all the time too =0) God bless! Annie E.
James - sometimes you just remind me so much of myself. I love how you wear your heart on your sleeve. I know your dreams will come true. I love you very much and am so glad to be part of your family! :o)
Love Lyles
Hey Dotter - how can I be so blessed to have you? Undeserving - that's what I am! It's so much fun watching you develop your business and still keeping your priorities straight! Love you more than the world!
Love, Mom
